BSD City, September 18, 2026 – OneSmile, an integrated smart city community app developed by Sinar Mas Land, has received the Private Sector Innovation/Corporate Smart Initiative/Commercial Solution Provider award at the IN-Apps 2026 Digital Application Award.
The award was presented directly by the Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency of the Republic of Indonesia, Teuku Riefky Harsya, and received by Yohanes Zega, Chief Executive Officer of OneSmile, on September 14, 2026, at Nusantara Hall, ICE BSD City. The recognition was given for OneSmile’s digital initiative in delivering technology-based solutions to improve service quality, efficiency, and connectivity, while creating added value for the community and supporting the development of Indonesia’s national digital ecosystem.
The IN-Apps 2026 Digital Application Award was organized by the Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenekraf/Bekraf RI) as an appreciation of innovation and the contribution of digital applications toward strengthening the national application ecosystem. A total of 13 award categories were assessed based on six aspects through a curation process conducted by five professional judges representing the government, industry, and academia. At the event, OneSmile was recognized alongside several other national companies and digital platforms, including BCA Mobile, Shopee, Kompas.com, and GoPay. The award ceremony was part of the Indonesia Apps Summit (IN-Apps) 2026, themed “Application as the New Engine of Growth,” and was one of the events leading up to the World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) 2026.
Teuku Riefky Harsya, Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency of the Republic of Indonesia, said, “This award is a tribute to innovators who have delivered digital solutions that provide tangible benefits to society while inspiring the creation of further innovations. This is in line with the application subsector, which in 2025 became the largest contributor to investment, amounting to IDR 54.18 trillion out of total creative economy investment of IDR 183.01 trillion, while exports reached USD 31.94 billion. Our success will be measured by the growing number of Indonesian applications that are able to develop, compete, and make their mark on the global stage. We hope that IN-Apps 2026 will mark the beginning of more meaningful and tangible collaborations, both with national and international partners.”
Yohanes Zega, Chief Executive Officer of OneSmile, said, “This achievement is both an appreciation and recognition of Sinar Mas Land’s efforts to leverage technology in delivering digital services that provide tangible benefits to the community. Through OneSmile, we integrate various services for residents, businesses, visitors, and township management into a single platform that supports everyday activities. For us, the success of OneSmile is measured not only by the number of users, but also by how effectively the available services help address residents’ needs more quickly and efficiently. We remain committed to continuously developing OneSmile so that it can make a greater contribution to driving the growth and strengthening of Indonesia’s digital application ecosystem.”
Since its launch in 2021, OneSmile has been implemented in two township developments by Sinar Mas Land, namely BSD City and Grand City Balikpapan, with more than 100,000 users. As a community app, OneSmile integrates various township services into a single application, ranging from billing information and payments for Environmental Maintenance Fees (Iuran Pemeliharaan Lingkungan/ IPL) and water, to community forums, a points-based loyalty program redeemable at various merchants, and a marketing channel for MSMEs. To accelerate access to information, OneSmile also offers Tanya OSA, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered chatbot that enables users to access information about the township more quickly and interactively.
OneSmile also offers a number of features designed for both residents and the general public. Through Facility Booking, users can book various facilities, including clubhouses, sport clubs, and educational tourism destinations. Meanwhile, the Loyalty feature provides points and vouchers that can be used to redeem food and beverage products and entertainment from participating merchants. For BSD City residents, the BSD Link feature provides schedules and information on free public transportation services, while the CCTV feature allows users to monitor road conditions at several points throughout the area. Various information about BSD City is also available through the Berita BSD, Event BSD, Jelajah BSD, and Satu BSD features. (*)

BSD City, 26 September 2026 – Living Lab Ventures (LLV) hosted a working visit by Ambassador of Japan to ASEAN, H.E. Mr. Yonetani Koji, at the Biomedical Campus, KEK ETKI Banten, BSD City, on Monday, 21 September 2026. The visit provided an opportunity to strengthen strategic dialogue on business opportunities, business expansion, and innovation collaboration between Japan and ASEAN, particularly Indonesia. During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on Japan–ASEAN economic relations, including cross-border investment, market access, startup expansion, corporate collaboration, and opportunities to strengthen connectivity between the business and innovation ecosystems in Japan and Southeast Asia.
As an ASEAN-based corporate venture capital and fund management platform, LLV builds connections across global ecosystems, including Japan. The meeting also highlighted the role of the Japan Thematic Fund (JTF), an initiative established by LLV in partnership with Spiral Ventures to strengthen investment and business opportunities between Japan and Southeast Asia, with Indonesia as one of its key markets. Through JTF, Japanese startups and companies gain access that extends beyond funding, providing local market insights, strategic partners, business networks, and go-to-market opportunities to navigate, enter, and scale across ASEAN markets.
Bayu Seto, Partner at Living Lab Ventures, explained, “Japan and Southeast Asia have built strong economic ties over several decades. This relationship provides an important foundation for further collaboration among startups, corporations, investors, and businesses across Japan and Southeast Asia. As the ASEAN economy becomes increasingly integrated, we see the importance of strengthening the connection between international capital and growth opportunities across Southeast Asia. This not only serves as a catalyst for investment, but also creates broader opportunities for companies to access technology, innovation, expertise, and markets across ASEAN. LLV seeks to connect global capital, businesses, and innovation with high-potential investment and growth opportunities in Southeast Asia.”
For companies pursuing cross-border expansion, funding is one part of the process. Understanding local market dynamics, finding the right partners, navigating the business environment, and accessing regional networks remain vital to achieving sustainable growth. Through this approach, LLV combines investment with strategic collaboration to help companies understand new markets and gain access to market-entry opportunities, partnerships, and business development across the region. LLV’s cross-border network also connects companies with stakeholders and opportunities that can support their business expansion.
Based in Indonesia, LLV is supported by an integrated ecosystem in BSD City that enables startups, corporations, investors, and technology partners to interact and explore the application of innovative solutions in the Indonesian market. This approach allows companies to gain first-hand insights into the market and develop solutions suited to local needs before moving on to validation, commercial partnerships, and regional expansion. As public demand for services that are easy, fast, practical, and integrated continues to increase, the use of technology has become an important part of creating an increasingly comfortable living experience. In response to this need, Sinar Mas Land, through Grand City Balikpapan, continues to strengthen the development of the area as a smart township that integrates technology into various aspects of everyday life.
One of these efforts is realized through the implementation of the OneSmile application, a digital platform that makes it easier for residents to access information and various needs within the area more practically through a single application.
Since July 2026, OneSmile has been implemented at Grand City Balikpapan as part of an effort to provide residents with easier and more integrated area services. At the initial stage, OneSmile provides information on water bills and Environmental Maintenance Fees (Iuran Pemeliharaan Lingkungan/IPL), allowing residents to view billing details and monitor their payment history digitally.
As an integrated smartphone application, OneSmile is also equipped with a customer care feature that serves as a channel for residents to obtain services and information related to their needs within the area.
Franky Najoan, CEO of East Indonesia Sinar Mas Land, said, “Digital transformation is an important part of the development of Grand City Balikpapan as a modern residential area. Through the use of technology, we aim to provide services that are more accessible, efficient, and offer added value for all residents. The implementation of OneSmile is one concrete step toward achieving this, while also supporting our efforts to create an increasingly comfortable living experience.
“This digitalization of services is also expected to create more effective communication between the area management and residents, allowing service needs to be handled more practically and responsively, while supporting the vision of developing a smart township with a one-stop living concept at Grand City Balikpapan.”
Yohanes Zega, CEO of OneSmile, stated, “After being successfully introduced in BSD City in 2021, OneSmile has continued to develop in supporting community needs through integrated digital services. This experience has become the foundation for us to expand the use of OneSmile to Grand City Balikpapan. The presence of OneSmile makes it easier for residents to access various information and services, ranging from the latest news about Balikpapan to special promotions from merchants.
“OneSmile will also soon be integrated with the clubhouse facilities and introduce various features tailored to residents’ needs. Going forward, we hope OneSmile can continue to serve as a digital partner for the community while supporting the transformation of other self-contained cities developed by Sinar Mas Land.”
Built on an area of more than 250 hectares, Grand City Balikpapan is developed by Sinar Mas Land as the first and largest township development in East Kalimantan. Currently, Grand City Balikpapan has developed 11 residential clusters, with a total of approximately 1,500 residential units that are home to nearly 2,000 residents.
The presence of this area also supports the growth of Balikpapan as one of the major cities in East Kalimantan, with facilities that support various community needs. As East Kalimantan becomes increasingly strategic in national development and the development of the Nusantara Capital (IKN), Balikpapan’s position as a center of activity and connectivity in the region also creates opportunities for the growth of residential areas and the need for increasingly integrated living environments.
To date, Sinar Mas Land continues to encourage digital transformation across all township development projects in Indonesia to provide services and products that are increasingly relevant to the community. This effort is realized through the development of technology-based infrastructure and services, ranging from the provision of fiber-optic networks and traffic monitoring through a traffic command center, to improved mobility through integrated public transportation facilities.
This development is further strengthened by integrated digital platforms such as OneSmile, which provide communities with easier access to various information and area services through a single platform.

BSD City, August 27, 2026 – Demographic shifts and growing public awareness of health are driving changes in healthcare and wellness services across Southeast Asia. The World Health Organization (WHO) projects that the proportion of people aged 60 and above in Southeast Asia will nearly double, from 11.3% in 2024 to 20.9% by 2050. This demographic shift is further increasing the need for more integrated and patient-centric healthcare systems, with services spanning the full health journey, from prevention and early detection to treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term care.
In response to these opportunities, Living Lab Ventures (LLV), Sinar Mas Land’s corporate venture capital and fund management platform, together with Spiral Ventures as co-general partners, has invested in Bumame and TWO Inc. through the Japan Thematic Fund (JTF). The investments reflect JTF’s strategy to foster cross-border innovation between Japan and Indonesia by supporting companies that strengthen the healthcare and wellness ecosystem. Beyond providing capital, the program also gives portfolio companies access to strategic networks, corporate partnerships, and market expansion opportunities across Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
Bayu Seto, Partner at Living Lab Ventures and Executive Manager of Japan Thematic Fund, said, “JTF was established to bridge Japan’s capabilities and innovation with growth opportunities in Indonesia through partnerships that create long-term value for both countries. Our investments in Bumame and TWO Inc. reflect this approach, where we are not only supporting business growth but also creating opportunities for the exchange of technology, expertise, and networks to strengthen more preventive, personalized, and integrated healthcare solutions. Moving forward, we aim to expand cross-border collaborations that connect the strengths of Japanese and Indonesian businesses while driving relevant and highly competitive innovations for the Southeast Asian market.”
As the healthcare sector increasingly shifts toward prevention, personalization, and integrated services, JTF invests in companies with complementary capabilities to help build a more comprehensive healthcare ecosystem, spanning prevention through long-term healthcare services. In this context, Bumame has emerged as a leading integrated healthcare provider in Indonesia, offering diagnostic services, clinical laboratories, medical check-ups, home healthcare, digital health solutions, and various preventive healthcare programs.
James Andrew Wihardja, CEO of Bumame, said, “This investment marks an important step for Bumame in expanding the healthcare services we have built, not only by increasing our capacity but also by developing solutions that are increasingly integrated and accessible. We see our partnership with JTF as an opportunity to combine our technology capabilities and understanding of the Indonesian market with the global network and perspectives of our partners, with the hope of accelerating innovation and reaching more people who need access to international-standard healthcare.”
This approach is also reflected in the investment in TWO Inc., the Japanese company behind the 2foods brand, which develops functional food products based on nutritional science, consumer research, and product innovation. While Bumame strengthens access to healthcare services, TWO Inc. complements this approach through prevention that begins with daily nutrition and lifestyle choices. Leveraging Japan’s experience in food innovation and longevity, TWO Inc. has the opportunity to deliver solutions that are relevant to consumer needs in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
Yoshikazu Azuma, CEO of Tokyo’s 2foods, added, “Indonesia is a highly attractive market for TWO as changing lifestyles and growing health awareness are creating opportunities for innovation in food and wellness. Our partnership with JTF gives us an opportunity to bring the experience and approaches we have developed in Japan to a broader market while learning from the needs of Indonesian consumers. We see this collaboration as a first step toward building a wellness business that can grow from Indonesia into markets across Southeast Asia.”
JTF is part of LLV’s long-term mission to strengthen BSD City as an ecosystem for digital innovation and smart city development in Indonesia. With Sinar Mas Land’s business network across real estate, digital technology, and community development, LLV can support portfolio companies in testing and developing solutions, scaling their businesses, and building partnerships with corporations in both Indonesia and Japan. Together with Spiral Ventures, LLV continues to drive cross-border collaboration connecting Japanese innovation with growth opportunities across Southeast Asia, while creating space for new solutions and broader economic opportunities to emerge.
The investments are also aligned with the development of the Banten Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for Education, Technology, and Health (ETKI Banten), also known as D-HUB SEZ in BSD City, which focuses on education, healthcare, digital technology, and the creative economy. The zone strengthens connectivity among healthcare providers, technology companies, startups, research institutions, investors, and industry partners within a collaborative environment.
More broadly, the connectivity between LLV’s business network, JTF, and the D-HUB SEZ ecosystem is expected to accelerate the development of innovative healthcare solutions while creating opportunities for cross-border collaboration that brings technology solutions and expertise from Japan, as well as global networks, into the Indonesian market.

According to data from the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry/BKPM, Japan’s foreign direct investment (FDI) realization in 2025 reached US$3.12 billion, equivalent to approximately IDR 50 trillion. This trend reflects strong investor interest in Indonesia’s market potential while creating broader opportunities for Indonesian companies and startups to establish strategic collaborations with Japanese partners.
Building on this momentum, Living Lab Ventures has partnered with Nihon M&A Center Indonesia (NMAI), backed by its group’s experience in facilitating more than 10,000 merger and acquisition (M&A) transactions. This collaboration marks an important step in strengthening our activities in Indonesia while expanding opportunities for cross-border investment, mergers, and acquisitions between Indonesia and Japan. By combining LLV’s investment capabilities and strong ecosystem in Indonesia with our network of Japanese corporations and advisory expertise, we hope to create long-term value and support business growth in both countries.”
As part of the partnership, both parties will support Japanese companies seeking to expand their businesses in Indonesia while providing broader access for Indonesian companies to establish partnerships with strategic investors and corporations in Japan. The collaboration will be carried out through regular strategic discussions, joint project development, and the appointment of representatives from each party to ensure that initiatives are implemented effectively. Any collaboration opportunities identified through the partnership will be followed up through definitive agreements based on the needs and strategic interests of both parties.
This partnership further strengthens Living Lab Ventures’ position as an investment platform connecting Indonesia’s innovation ecosystem with global business networks. By combining Sinar Mas Land’s integrated business ecosystem with Nihon M&A Center’s extensive corporate network, LLV continues to strengthen its role in facilitating cross-border investment, business collaboration, and innovation between Indonesia and Japan, while creating more opportunities for companies from both countries to grow and expand into international markets.

BSD City, May 12, 2026 – As part of its efforts to strengthen the innovation ecosystem and foster global collaboration, Living Lab Ventures (LLV), the corporate venture capital arm of Sinar Mas Land, continues to expand its International Landing Pad program as a soft-landing platform for global companies seeking to enter Indonesia’s high-potential market. The program is designed to provide access to strategic resources, structured market insights, and connections with startups, industry partners, and business networks across the Sinar Mas Land ecosystem.
International Landing Pad Offers a Soft-Landing Solution for Global Companies
Powered by BSD City’s ecosystem as a living laboratory and implementation sandbox, the International Landing Pad program has welcomed 15 technology companies from six Asia-Pacific countries, including Japan, Australia, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, and Malaysia. The initiative has also received full support from the Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency as part of efforts to accelerate the transformation of the startup economy, promote technology transfer, and strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesia’s digital economy.
Tri Wahyudi, Director of Applications, Deputy for Digital Creativity and Technology, Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency, said, “LLV’s International Landing Pad initiative represents a strategic step toward attracting quality investment into the application subsector. The program is expected not only to create opportunities for collaboration with global companies, but also to facilitate technology transfer, strengthen the capabilities of local digital talent, and accelerate the growth of innovation-driven startups in Indonesia. The government will continue to support this ecosystem through regulatory support, partnerships, and talent development to further strengthen Indonesia’s competitiveness on the global stage.”
BSD City Serves as a Living Laboratory and Innovation Sandbox
The International Landing Pad provides workspace for up to two representatives from each participating company for a period of six months, along with access to various facilities across BSD City’s innovation ecosystem, including collaborative workspaces, community hubs, makerspaces, and innovation hubs. Through this integrated environment, participants can engage directly with industry players, startups, and innovation communities, while taking part in networking activities to build strategic partnerships. The ecosystem also enables companies to gain a deeper understanding of Indonesia’s market dynamics and identify opportunities for collaboration with local partners in a more targeted manner.
Bayu Seto, Partner at Living Lab Ventures, said, “We see many global companies viewing Indonesia as a market with significant growth potential. However, entering the market often comes with challenges, particularly in understanding local market dynamics and building the right connections. Through the International Landing Pad, we aim to provide a platform that helps global companies explore opportunities in Indonesia and test their solutions, while giving them access to relevant startup ecosystems, industry partners, and business networks within an integrated environment. Through this approach, companies gain not only market access, but also a stronger foundation to test their business models, accelerate validation, and establish the right strategic partnerships from the outset.”
A key advantage of the International Landing Pad is its integration with BSD City, a 6,000 hectare mega township developed by Sinar Mas Land with a population of more than 500,000. The self-contained city offers an integrated modern ecosystem spanning residential, commercial, education, healthcare, retail, and entertainment facilities. This ecosystem is further supported by a range of technologies relevant to industrial and urban (smart city) solutions, including advanced materials & construction solutions, smart infrastructure & building systems, environmental & sustainability technology, industrial applications, and urban technology solutions.
Through the program, LLV provides a collaborative model that enables global investors and innovators to establish a stronger and more sustainable presence in Indonesia. By strengthening its strategic collaboration-driven investment approach, LLV reaffirms its role as a platform connecting global capital, innovation, and local ecosystems through sustainable partnerships—accelerating urban innovation while creating a more strategic and structured pathway for global investors to participate in Indonesia’s growth.

The partnership aims to support Japanese companies in pursuing business opportunities in Indonesia, one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing economies, while strengthening strategic collaboration between the two countries.
Under the partnership, IGPI Singapore will provide management consulting and investment advisory services to its Japanese clients seeking to enter the Indonesian market. Meanwhile, LLV will provide access to its extensive network, deep industry expertise, and strategic resources across Indonesia’s business ecosystem.
One of the key assets offered through the partnership is BSD City, a 6,000-hectare mega township developed by Sinar Mas Land and home to nearly 500,000 residents. The city serves as a living laboratory for innovation, with comprehensive urban infrastructure that provides an ideal environment for market research, proof of concept (PoC) testing, and the development of strategic partnerships.
The combination of advisory support, network access, and a real-world urban ecosystem creates a stronger foundation for a more effective market entry model. Together, the two organizations will establish a soft-landing platform that enables Japanese companies to enter the Indonesian market with greater control over risks while accelerating the execution of their market strategies. This approach is expected to support the success of Japanese companies expanding into Indonesia while creating opportunities for broader partnerships in the future.
Bayu Seto, Partner at Living Lab Ventures (LLV), said, “This initiative is aligned with LLV’s mission to connect Indonesia’s ecosystem with global opportunities. By positioning BSD City as a hub where Japanese companies can test solutions and develop their businesses, we are creating new pathways for investment, technology transfer, and sustainable growth that can benefit both countries. With LLV serving as a catalyst for the innovation ecosystem, the partnership creates opportunities to attract greater foreign direct investment, facilitate technology collaboration, and support new job creation in Indonesia. For Japanese companies, the collaboration provides access to a trusted local partner and a tangible platform to enter and navigate one of the most dynamic economies in Southeast Asia.

August 12, 2025
BSD City, August 13, 2025 – Indonesia’s digital economy is projected to reach US$130 billion by 2025, according to the e-Conomy SEA 2024 report by Google, Temasek, and Bain & Company. This growth is positioning Indonesia as one of the most dynamic innovation markets in Southeast Asia. Global companies are increasingly looking to enter the region, not only to expand their markets but also to pursue research and development collaborations with local startups.
Capturing this opportunity, Living Lab Ventures (LLV), the corporate venture capital arm of Sinar Mas Land, has launched InnoLab, a co-innovation program designed to accelerate the development of real-world solutions through collaboration between Indonesian startups and global technology companies. Through InnoLab, startups can gain access to various Intellectual Property (IP) assets from LLV’s global partners across different countries.
The technology co-innovation program covers five strategic sectors: renewable energy, digital healthcare, next-generation semiconductors, sustainable logistics, and environmental solutions. For its first batch, InnoLab offers a six-month program designed to help startups access and develop global deep-tech solutions through an inclusive approach, supported by LLV’s network of experts, mentors, and commercialization advisors. The initiative also enables startups to localize global technologies to address the needs of the Indonesian market while accelerating time to market.
Bayu Seto, Partner at Living Lab Ventures, said, “InnoLab is where global deep-tech meets real-world local execution. Today, startups need more than just funding. They also need access to proven technologies, guidance from experts, and a safe environment where they can experiment. At the same time, global companies are constantly looking for the right partners and ecosystems to localize their innovations. InnoLab bridges these two needs and positions BSD City as a growing hub for applied innovation in Indonesia. Moving forward, we will continue to build new partnerships in global IP and innovation to expand and enrich our innovation pipeline while fostering closer collaboration between startups and global technology leaders.”
LLV has developed InnoLab based on a Real Co-Innovation Delivery approach, built around three key pillars: real-world testing environments, expert support, and a collaborative and flexible innovation process. This approach enables startups to be matched with IP owners, facilitates structured business matching, provides milestone based technical reviews, and supports market validation through trials, surveys, and user research.
A key advantage of InnoLab is its integration with BSD City, a 6,000-hectare mega township developed by Sinar Mas Land. With a population of more than 500,000 and hundreds of businesses operating within the area, BSD City serves as a living laboratory, providing startups with opportunities to test, validate, and develop their solutions directly within a real-world community. Supported by digital infrastructure, technology enabled services, smart mobility systems, and active community engagement, BSD City offers an ideal ecosystem for accelerating the development of future technologies at scale.
InnoLab also provides a structured development pathway tailored to local market needs, helping startups strengthen their technology and IP portfolios. The program offers innovators a unique opportunity to gain direct exposure to frontier technologies, work alongside global and local experts, and test their products in a dynamic urban environment.
Through the launch of InnoLab, LLV reinforces its role as a catalyst for transformative innovation, driving meaningful collaboration between startups and corporations to co-create solutions that deliver impact for communities and industries.
